Appointment of Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer

A vacancy has occurred for a Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer. For this varied position, candidates must be computer literate and have internet access. Previous experience working as a Parish Clerk and/or a knowledge of local government would be preferable however, inexperienced candidates will be considered, and training can be provided. Candidates should be prepared to undertake continued development training throughout their period of employment and be prepared to study for the Certificate in Local Councils Administration. Preference will be given to local candidates.

 

The Clerk is responsible for preparing agendas, taking minutes, dealing with correspondence, liaising with contractors and local government officials, managing of accounts to include keeping of cash book, bank reconciliations, preparing budgets, VAT returns, PAYE, organising audits and the administration of the Parish Council website.  The successful candidate will be expected to be aware of, or to make themselves aware of, the requirements of the GDPR and to act as the Council’s Data Controller. The Clerk ensures correct procedures are followed and advises the Parish Council to ensure that it acts within its powers.  Training and ongoing professional development will be provided. The ability to communicate well at all levels is essential.

The salary is based on 20 hours per week and will be calculated according to the National Joint Council rates dependent upon qualifications and/or experience but will be within the range SCP 15 to 25 (LC1) (£17,972 – £23,111 pro rata), with mileage reclaimable at 0.45ppm.

Attendance is required at the Parish Council Meetings held alternatively at Wrockwardine Parish Hall and Admaston House on the second Wednesday of every month (except August) at 7:30 p.m. Other extraordinary meetings may be arranged as necessary throughout the year.

Having completed a comprehensive examination of Council records presented to me I have
completed the AGAR’s Annual Internal Audit Report positively. The audit work undertaken
supports that the Council’s financial affairs are properly conducted and accurate.”

 

Admaston Traffic Management and Road Safety Project

Improvements in Your Area

There have been a number of concerns raised regarding vehicular speed and the safety of pedestrians when crossing at Station Road, Shawbirch Road and Wellington Road in Admaston. Therefore, Telford & Wrekin Council, working alongside Wrockwardine Parish Council, have reviewed the area and produced some proposals designed to alleviate the issues raised.

Three plans are enclosed with this letter that show various proposals and options that we have suggested to ease speed concerns and improve the safety of pedestrians in this area.

There will be a drop in event in the foyer of Admaston House from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday 21st August, at which you will be able to discuss the propsals in detlail and provide comments.

If you are not be able to attend the drop in event I would appreciate it if you can provide your comments by email to highways@telford.gov.uk by no later than Friday 1st September 2017.

Telford Pride @ 50 Fund

Telford Pride @ 50 Fund

I am sure you area aware that Telford will be celebrating its 50th Birthday next year. As part of the celebrations the Borough Council has established the Telford Pride @ 50 Fund to support the delivery of projects or schemes that leave a lasting legacy within the Borough. The aim is to recognise Telford’s history and to support the future social economic growth of the Borough.

At this stage the Borough Council want to know what types of projects people would like to see introduced to commemorate Telford’s 50th birthday.

Residents are invited to take part in the Telford Pride @ 50 Fund Survey.

The survey will close by Monday 18 September 2017 so please have your say and encourage others to take part.

If people are unable to complete the survey online they can complete a paper survey at our main libraries; Southwater, Wellington, Newport, Madeley or The Place @ Oakengates, and post their completed surveys in those buildings.
