The Dingle, Blacksmiths Lane, Wrockwardine

The Parish Council has been notified of the following planning application:

TWC/2018/0952

The Dingle, Blacksmiths Lane, Wrockwardine, Telford, TF6 5EZ

Demolition of the existing single storey extension and erection of a two storey extension with internal alterations, installation of porch hood, replacement of 4no. windows, 1no. door and the erection of two bay detached garage (Full Planning Application) .

Wrockwardine Parish Council is NOT the Planning Authority; this is the function of The Borough Council. The view of the Parish Council does not carry any extra weight (over and above any other resident) nor is it guaranteed to be taken into account when any decision is made by the Borough Council. The Parish Council is simply invited, by the Borough Council, to give its views on planning applications. If a planning application affects you, or you have a view which you wish to be taken into consideration by the Planning Officers of the Borough Council then it is important that you convey that opinion directly to the relevant authority (which is Telford and Wrekin Council). The Parish Council is unable to “pass on” the views of others to the Planning Authority but it may take into account the views of residents of the Parish when deciding upon its own position on any particular application.

Borough Council’s Grant Scheme for Young People

Telford & Wrekin Council’s grant scheme for young people is now open and seeking applicants looking for financial support up to the maximum value of £1,000.

The grant aims to support children and young people living in the Borough of Telford and Wrekin up to the age of 25 years old who fall into one of three categories – education, training and/or employment, performing arts and culture or sport programmes.

The panel is particularly interested in children and young people who have overcome adversity to reach their aspirations and goals, not just those competing or achieving at the highest levels.

The application needs a 500 word statement by a tutor, mentor or coach, visit http://bit.ly/Youthfunding
Closing date 5pm, Friday November 30

We’d like as many young people to apply as possible and appreciate your support in helping to promote this scheme for the borough’s young people.

Best regards,

Maria

‘EqualiTeas’ events

On behalf of Sue Marston, Skills Service Delivery Manager Telford & Wrekin Borough Council

The Skills Delivery Team [T&WC] have organised a series of ‘EqualiTeas’ events as part of the UK wide celebration marking 90 years since the Representation of the People Act 1928.  As 2018 also coincides with 100 years since some women gained the vote, this will also be a part of our events.

There will be five events in local communities and one larger event taking place at the Wakes:

  • Brookside Central (Wednesday 20 June) 9:30am – 11:30am
  • Dawley Town Hall (Friday 22 June) 9:30am – 11:30am
  • Arleston Community Centre (Monday 25 June) 9:30am – 11:30am
  • Park Lane Centre (Wednesday 27 June) 9:30am – 11:30am
  • Donnington Community Hub (Wednesday 27 June) 12:30pm – 2:30pm
  • The Wakes, Oakengates (Saturday 30 June) 10am – 2pm

The five smaller-scale events will involve art and craft activities (relevant to EqualiTeas), health and wellbeing, information on voter registration, information on Local Policing and Safer Neighbourhood Teams and a vintage tea party.  We will also have the use of a ballot box from the Elections Office and visitors will be encouraged to take part in a ‘mock ballot’ (not relating to mainstream politics).  From a Skills Delivery perspective, we will be promoting Learn Telford courses and all Job Box services.

The larger event at The Wakes will consist of a range of activities including arts and craft (relevant to EqualiTeas and Vote 100), information on courses/learning around voting and the UK Parliament, information on ‘Your Vote Matters’ and voter registration, a display on the Youth Parliament staffed by local representatives, free tea and refreshments, the library service, information on Local Policing and Safer Neighbourhood Teams, food and displays from different faith communities & community groups as well as activities relating to health and wellbeing.  The My Options Roving Reporters will also be attending to interview people who attend and we are hoping to encourage as many visitors as possible to take an ‘#IVote’ selfie and upload it to social media.  There will be a free entrance draw and Blists Hill Museum have kindly donated free family tickets as a contribution to this.

The event will be well-publicised and we are hoping to reach as many people as possible, especially those who may not ordinarily be engaged in voting.

Further details on EqualiTeas is available on the UK Parliament website and also on the designated website www.equaliteas.org.uk

Works to the B5063 from Shawbirch to the Borough boundary

The Borough Council will shortly be working in our Parish as part of our ‘Pride in Our community’ investment programme.

The work is to improve signing and lining as part of a review undertaken on the length of the B5063 from Shawbirch to the Borough boundary. The project will be delivered using a combination of stop and go boards and 3-way temporary signals in order to keep disruption to a minimum.

Work will commence on site on 16th April 2018 and will last for approximately 4 weeks.
