Civil Parking Enforcement

The Borough Council is undertaking a new consultation about Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE). They think it will affect the people of the parish of Wrockwardine. You can find a full overview online at

Currently, West Mercia Police has the power to enforce illegal parking penalties but they often don’t have the resources to do so. The Borough Council want to know what you think of inconsiderate and illegal parking in the borough, what the problems are and where they are likely to be.

The Borough Council want to take over the enforcement role, known as CPE for both parking on roads, pavements and in council owned car parks.

To do that, they must apply to the Department for Transport to have these powers transferred from West Mercia Police to the Borough Council. As part of that application, the Borough Council must prepare a business case that incorporates the views of local councils, residents, workers, visitors and businesses in the borough.

Get involved

The Borough Council want as many views as possible during the consultation which starts today, Monday 17 September 2018. It will run over four weeks ending 23:59 Sunday 14 October 2018.

Please tell them your views by completing the online survey. View more information about the key milestones and FAQs.

Please also share with as many people as you can

You may have particular views about the implementation. Whilst the Borough Council welcome those via the survey and FAQ you may also want to speak to someone. Please let them know if that is the case – – 01952 382104.

Assuming the application passes the necessary legal hurdles and is approved by the Department for Transport, Civil Parking Enforcement could go live in Telford and Wrekin around the Autumn of 2019.

Kind regards,

All the best,
